(I did a version of all these things at some point in my life):
Five: Take a tour of Pixar in Emeryville
Four: Wax Museum
Three: Golden Gate Bridge
Two: Walk Fisherman’s Wharf (I spent most of my time in San Fran here, this time)
One: Alcatraz
Things I passed on: Harbor Cruise, biking the golden gate, visiting the surrounding areas, going to a San Fran or Oakland pro sporting event.
Average place to stay: The blow-up mattress of a computer nerd who lives in little Mexico of San Fran.
San Fran’s Ratings. On a scale from 1 to Boston: 7.1
San Fran has culture, and a beautiful bay. The weather is average to above average, and it seems to have enough of a local feel to make it livable, with enough attractions to make it entertaining.
San Fran doesn’t have the feel it used to or the elevated standard of living it was known for. No longer in its prime.
The story: San Fran was a fun place to visit, albeit quickly.
I arrived in on Bay Area Rail Transit and walked 10 blocks to my buddy's apartment in little Mexico.
This is just the name I donned for it, because at 2am when I made my walk I did not hear a single conversation in English.
Anyways, I got in, passed out, woke up and set off for Fisherman’s Wharf. You can easily spend a full day or even a few just on the Wharf doing the various activities.
I headed for the Wax Museum, then caught some sights of Alcatraz (which I’ve visited before when I was younger), and a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Then I got breakfast on the Wharf, and while I did, I got a phone call from what I believe will be my future boss. I’m most likely taking a part time teaching job in Denver, Colorado at a charter school, and I asked the waitresses to leave my food while I took the call.
Well, long story short, they thought I went “chew and screw” on them, and not only got rid of my food, but also made my water bottle disappear. I didn’t much care at this point, so I paid them, and made my way back to watch RZC at Mike’s. If you don’t know what the RZC is, you should find out- because it essentially made productivity in America drop to 0% for 50% of America’s population.
P.S. Donate some money. Good causes all around.
